U.I.M. A Decade Of Consistency

00

Good day readers and fans. It’s been a while since we spoke about a label and what they have done or how far they have come. In the world of music there is a label based in Jamaica but has touched the hearts and ears of several listeners, fans and some general everyday people. The label is called U.I.M and it stands for Uptempo International Music. Started in the late 80’s in a high school in Kingston  as a disco or sound system as its called. Since then they have evolved into more than just a sound system they are officially one of the islands leading production house. They also manage “Tommy Lee” dancehall artist that has crossed over in the goth and others realms of music.

Famous productions from U.I.M. Well lets look at how it started. They were knocking on the doors during the late 90’s.  Then during the course of the millennium singles started coming out via co owner Sean Myrie. They helped to cultivate various sounds and producers within the game.  Now its a full fledge working entity. UIM team comprises Shawn ‘Blak Diamon’ Myrie, Tanya Thelwell, Robert ‘Dinearo’ Graham, Wayne Touzalin, Kadeem Christy.

The label then debuted Purge rhythm which featured songs from Vybz Kartel, Mavado, Bounty Killer, Capleton and Sizzla.

UIM’s breakout song was 2007’s Dagga Dat by Bragga on the 300 Round beat. Now its been nothing but consistency since then.

The label released EPs by Blak Diamon (Life Too Sweet); Vybz Kartel (Gaza Man Cry); Tommy Lee Sparta (Grim Reaper); Popcaan (Unruly) and Bugle (Life Span). The work keeps pouring in and the team keeps on delivering.

“I also worked on a song with Jah Cure and Mya. It was produced by myself, Justus, and Tristan Boston, and it’s called Only You,” he continued.

Locally, the producer has even more projects coming out of the woodwork.

“I have a song going good with Popcaan right now called Fresh Jordans,” he said.

So after speaking with Andrew Myrie aka Anju Blaxxx, who has a degree from Full Sail University. These were his comments and views on his label. “We are an independent music and film production company that has the capability and capacity through our entire production team, to produce and distribute finished products and services to not just for the local market, but also the international market.”

So its safe to say with a list of hits as those and a CV that looks that good. Couple or marry all that with hard work and talent they might have just found the formula up by UIM records.
