Rick Ross will get bail in time for Sumfest, festival organiser promises
Johnny Gourzong, executive director of Summerfest Productions, says he is confident American rapper Rick Ross will make bail in time for Reggae Sumfest 2015.
The veteran event organiser says fans of the artiste have nothing to worry about, as he believes the rapper will perform at the event in July.
“He going before a judge, he is going to be on bail so the patrons have no need to panic … absolutely not. Rick Ross is going to be on the Sumfest stage come the Friday the 17th of July. He is going to be in Jamaica. We always deliver a tremendous product and this year will be no different,” he said.
Rick Ross was denied a bail bond Thursday, following assault and kidnapping charges which stemmed from a June 7, 2015 incident involving one of his employees. The Stay Scheming rapper is expected to miss the BET Awards this weekend, as his next bail hearing is set for July 1.
Gourzong also said more patrons will get the opportunity to see Rick Ross perform on International Night One, due to a courteous decision by the Reggae Sumfest team to reduce the price of admission for that particular night.
“We know that things are tough in the economy and we felt the need to gauge it properly. You will also have Common on that night and Coco Tea will close it, so we are looking for a huge turn-out on that night. Come out and support the show, it’s the greatest reggae show in the world. I know people concerned about Rick Ross, but he will be alright man,” he said.
The festival will also feature Jennifer Hudson, Lady Saw, Spice, Gage, Tommy Lee Sparta, Beenie Man, Jesse Royal, Kabaka Pyramid, I-Octane and Christopher Martin.
